On January 13, 2021, the New Brunswick Business Immigration Stream (NBBIS) was established as an economic opportunity pathway for potential immigrant entrepreneurs from outside Canada. All applicants are required to establish, operate, and actively manage their own business while living and settling in the Province of New Brunswick.
This process starts with a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) and leads to Permanent Residency (PR). The applicant has one year to effectively operate the business on the TRV. Afterward, the Government of New Brunswick will evaluate the business’s success to determine whether to nominate the applicant for PR.
New Brunswick reserves the right to consider only certain types of ventures in its portfolio and nomination process. Their decision-making process is highly strategic and based on the local labor market, current business inventory, yearly nomination quotas, and other economic factors considered by the provincial government.

Program Eligibility
What are the requirements?
Applicants are required to provide comprehensive information to satisfy the minimum requirements for an Expression of Interest (EOI) to obtain a TRV. These include:

• Language: Proficiency in Canada’s first official languages (French or English), verified by approved test scores for IELTS, CELPIP, TEF, or TCF Canada.
• Education: Documentation of your highest level of education and whether it was obtained outside of Canada (an Educational Credential Assessment is typically required).
• Work Experience: A detailed record of your last 5 years of employment (specifically verifying your experience as an active business owner or senior manager).
• Adaptability (Adds additional points):
  ⚬ Having a close family member who is a PR or citizen of Canada and has been living in New Brunswick for at least one year.
  ⚬ Having completed at least two years of full-time study at a New Brunswick post-secondary institution.
  ⚬ Having an arranged offer of employment in New Brunswick.

Furthermore, the province outlines strict financial requirements:

• Minimum Investment Amount: $150,000 CAD
• Minimum Personal Net Worth Amount: $500,000 CAD
